A peer-group option within Experience English

Older adults are welcome on all Blue Noun English holidays. Experience English 60+ simply gives guests the option of joining a holiday alongside people of a similar age, for those who prefer it.

Experience English is a non-traditional approach to language learning. We don't teach English through lessons or classroom activities. Instead, we create real situations in which you can use the English you already have — with support when you need it.

The experience itself is the same Experience English holiday: real-world English, shared activities, and confidence-first support through use. The difference is the group composition, with the pace and activities shaped around the people taking part.

Who this option is for

Experience English 60+ is for adults who:

want to use the English they already have, rather than return to classroom learning
enjoy travelling, walking, exploring, and being out in the world
value good conversation, culture, and shared experiences
prefer being in a group of contemporaries
How English support works

English support is integrated into the week through real activities and shared time together. Conversation happens while walking, visiting places, cooking, sharing meals, and exploring — with light correction when useful.

English develops through use, not instruction.

Activity level

Guests should be comfortable walking up to 5 km in a day as part of normal sightseeing and outdoor activities. As with every Experience English holiday, plans are responsive: the pace of the week is shaped around the group.

Place & belonging

You'll be based in a small Scottish town that makes it easy to settle in quickly, recognise faces, and feel part of local life. English becomes something you're simply using day to day, rather than something you're managing or monitoring.

60+ dates for 2027

Blue Noun Experience English holidays run from Friday to Friday. The holiday programme begins at 5 pm on Friday and finishes at 12 noon the following Friday. Guests are welcome to arrive in Crieff on Thursday or Friday, depending on their travel plans.

Please note that Language International may display Monday as a standard course start day. Our actual Experience English start dates are Fridays.

Current 60+ arrival dates are:

23 April 2027 — one or two weeks
30 April 2027 — one week
14 May 2027 — one or two weeks

These dedicated dates are for guests who prefer a peer-age group. Outside these dates, guests aged 60+ are equally welcome to join any of our mixed-age Experience English holidays.

Booking & choosing what suits you

A short Zoom conversation is included before booking. This gives us a chance to talk things through and decide whether the dedicated 60+ dates or a mixed-age Experience English holiday would suit you better.

Accommodation

Accommodation is not included in the holiday price.

We strongly recommend our local homestay accommodation, available for £25 per person, per night. Homestay extends the language immersion into everyday life and gives you more opportunities to use English naturally outside the organised holiday activities.

At £25 per night, it is also a very affordable way to stay in Scotland.

Homestay is the accommodation option arranged by Blue Noun. Guests who prefer to stay independently can arrange their own hotel or other accommodation in Crieff.

Staying for two weeks

Guests who choose a two-week Experience English holiday have an overnight trip included between the two weeks. This gives us the freedom to travel further afield than we normally would on a day trip — or to spend time in Edinburgh.

Our holidays are for people who are curious, capable, and enjoy being out in the world — whatever their age. English becomes part of the experience of being in Scotland, not a separate task to manage.
